Calls to Action

• Speedy implementation of the health care reform provisions in Pennsylvania. Don’t let the gubernatorial candidate and current attorney general Tom Corbett attempt to stop reform for his political gain at our expense.
  
  
• Serious consideration of the "Health Care for All PA" proposed legislation (SB400 and HB 1660) which would establish a single payer program in PA. Movement on this legislation is held up until the state approves the nominal funding needed to conduct a financial impact study to determine how much the state, its municipalities, and individual citizens might save. The new federal law does allow states to provide reasonable alternatives to its own requirements. The funding would be made available under Senate Resolution 267.
  
  
• In the upcoming November election, pay careful attention to the positions of candidates for Congress on the recently passed national health care legislation. Also consider the positions candidates for state office on implementing this legislation in PA, as well as their views on the Health Care for All PA bills in the state house. If their positions are vague, press them to clarify them.
